Polypropylene is noted for its excellent chemical resistance in corrosive environments. Polypropylene Homopolymer (PPH) possesses excellent resistance to organic solvents and degreasing agents as well as electrolytic attack. PPH sheet is harder and has a higher temperature resistance than HDPE but lower impact resistance and becomes brittle below 0°C. Hence like polyethylene's, polypropylene has good chemical but poor UV resistance (unless stabilised or protected).
PPH has high rigidity, high temperature range (+100°C to -0°C), excellent chemical resistance, very low moisture absorption (<0.1%), is lightweight and weldable, and is food contact approved.
PPH is often used in chemical tanks, cutting boards, pumps, valves, and gaskets.
PPH is available in sheet and rod form, and in a range of thicknesses.
